West Side

June is SO over-booked for me. Not only is it Kdawg’s birthday, but it’s her breakdancing recital (they’re doing West Side story-and it covers the duration of an entire 3-day weekend), her birthday PARTY (another weekend), the Relay for Life; a 2-day event, AND I am going to be a GODMOTHER so I am helping out with the baby shower this coming month (he’s due July 10th)! Godmother-I love the way that sounds. Sissy’s daughter is having her first baby, a boy! She has asked me to be his Godmother. This will be the ONLY Godchild I have (spoiled rotten) so I feel privileged and maybe it will make up for the fact that it doesn’t look like I will be having any more of my own so I can enjoy him and send him home. *warm smile* CLEARLY God has some other plan in mind for me than more kids…

It just so happens that my vacation is the week of June 28th, which is the beginning of the last week of June into July, which means that not only is the Friday prior to my vacation my day off, but the Monday is our July 4th holiday (actually July 5th) so I have from Thursday when I get out of work (June 24) THROUGH July 6th free from the bowels of hell.

I have a few road trips planned for this year; Hershey Park in June (perhaps) and back to PA for Charlotte’s birthday and I’m not sure but I know we’ll be hitting up a few parks this year, not to mention Sissy’s house in Maine and Kdawg’s birthday at Monkey Trunks in New Hampshire. I’ve already been to Maine twice this year. I love road trips, but after last years road trip down south in which I drove the majority of the way down there AND back (Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, etc) I am pretty road tripped out for now. In addition, I need to spend a weekend (at least) with my girly in Connecticut SOON! <3 Kdawg would like to visit New York City this summer again as well.

So, I am planning something crazy. I think I am looking to go to Cali for a few days, maybe spend some time with a few good friends there. There’s Kristine who is somewhere up North, Ruben who is in Redding and Arlene who is in Sacramento. I heard San Diego is really pretty and I would love to visit, however it is so far south from where I want to visit people, so I may save it for another time…like a trip ON MY WAY TO HAWAII in years to come.

So, I’m looking for suggestions. Things to see, places to go, people? Must sees, must eats? Anything. I’m not sure when I’ll go, but I’m feeling pretty spontaneous and I’m hoping that thru my cousin with the airline, that I’ll get to fly for free. Only problem is it’ll be REALLY last minute….SURPRISE!

I’ll be a transient. Going with a big smile, my camera, a backpack, a few bucks and my walkin’ shoes! I hope this falls thru. It’s ME time. ADVENTURE!
